AOC wines from the Côte Roannaise vineyards
Let’s start by filling our glasses with these wines produced on a 20-kilometre-long terraced slope, facing due south on granite soil. Labelled «Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée» (guarantee of origin) since 1994, the Roanne vineyard today counts some thirty winegrowers, 200 hectares of land and ten villages. We’ll go for a rosé wine for the aperitif; this is rare because rosé wines only account for 10% of production. These fresh and thirst-quenching wines that can also be enjoyed as sparkling wines give off aromas of cherry and blackcurrant buds. The red wines, laden with hints of ripe fruit and jam, spattered with spices and leather, are a perfect match for sophisticated cuisine. To bring out the taste of a selection of cold meats or farm-produced cheeses, opt for a young, aromatic wine. If you’d like to find out more about these delicious wines, feel free to go direct to the wine-growers’ who will be pleased to welcome you.
